On April 12, 2016, Hire NOLA held a press conference while the U.S. Department of Labor Deputy Secretary Chris Lu was visiting New Orleans. Joining him in front of the press was Mayor Mitch Landrieu, Dr. Arnel Cosey, Vice Chancellor of Delgado Community College, Thelma French, President & CEO of Total Community Action, and representing for Royal, Gina-Marie Bernal, of Business Development & Operations. As a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Firm, Royal Engineers endorses the city of New Orleans’ advancements that focuses the need of construction and economic development opportunities for both disadvantaged workers and local workers.
Hire NOLA is a standardized mechanism to link employment opportunities created by city construction contracts and economic development projects to a qualified local workforce. Royal prides ourselves on communal involvement and Ms. Bernal conveyed such solemnity at the press conference. While delivering her affirmations, Ms. Bernal stated, “As an engineering and construction management firm whose overwhelming majority of projects are funded by public tax dollars, it is our responsibility to embrace and employ the communities that make those projects a possibility.”
With avowing Royal as participants in the city’s initiative, the company will continue teaming with Hire NOLA in anticipations of exceeding the expectations of the program.
